Sometimes it doesn't take a lot to be kind. Sometimes, human needs are really simple. During these cold months for example, warm clothes are the simplest, yet the most important need of people.

Try forgetting your jacket for a day and going out. It won't take more than a few minutes for you to realise that you can barely walk. Now imagine those people who sleep on roads. Many of them do not have a basic blanket to keep them warm for the night.

So we distributed blankets in various areas of Delhi and Gurgaon. This wouldn't have been possible without the generous contributions by some of our volunteers.A big shout to them. You rock!

One specially challenged champion feeding the other, a smile on getting "boondi wale laddoos" on Sunday, and saying hello a countless times to warm your heart...these are the moments that make a Sunday at Ramakrishna Ashram so so special.

From now on, we will announce about our events on Facebook beforehand. This will, hopefully, bring more good-hearted people on-board. We are hoping that the Be Yourself Team grows bigger with every event.

How many times do we close our eyes and get scared at the thought of getting old? Not many times maybe. But everyone, at some point or the other, does wonder about this. And with that follows the thought of our elders, those who raised us and those who raised our parents.

Ours is not a country where old age homes are a common sight. Getting good quality care is a challenge for many elderly people who are abandoned.

Hence, places like the Earth Saviours Foundation Gurgaon are very special and of course much needed. The place, run by Ravi Kalra, a social activist and environmentalist, takes care of old people with physical and mental disabilities.

The team, led by Abay Chawla and Garima, arranged lunch and also planted trees at the foundation. And we met this beautiful dog who could not contain her infectious enthusiasm while gorging on as many laddoos as she could.

It was a hot Sunday afternoon as we watched them have their lunch. From the first morsel of rice to the last sip of the mango drinks, they ate with a bit of struggle and a lot of discipline.

It was not a usual lunch table. We saw one boy helping the other to eat. We saw the kitchen boy wiping off their faces once they had had the lunch (which was on our team). We saw how much effort it takes to take care of these champions.

Anand Ashram takes care of physically and mentally challenged orphan boys in Gurgaon. The efforts of the fathers and brothers and other staff members cannot be described in words. One has to see for themselves to understand their unceasing dedication.

We would like to thank Kuldeep, Siddharth, Sanjeev, Nidhi, Shruti, Taranjot, Jatin Raliya and Garima for making this happen.

We recently went to Anandashram, an ashram in Gurgaon where Brothers and Sisters take care of mentally challenged kids and teenagers. Wanted to share some images here.

When we looked at these Brothers and Sisters, we couldn’t help but wonder, they spend an entire lifetime serving people in need. How do they manage to be so kind and selfless?

You can google their address and donate food (raw material) and clothes to them if you wish to. We are also hoping to do some activity to do our bit. Real soon.

In the meantime, have a look at these pictures. Two bands: Shunya and Jim Iris performed for them on Children’s Day. Look at the happy faces. Music certainly does wonders.

I am an admin of this page and I try to attend all the events we plan. But because of unforseen circumstances I could not attend this one.

And today was a usual day for me. I woke up, went for a run wishing to get thinner, checked my whats’app, replied to some messages on Facebook, got ready and thought a countless number of thoughts on my way to work.

I got my favourite java chip coffee on my way and I even ordered a dress online. You know, big discounts and all that jazz. So precisely, I did everything to beat these Monday blues.

Then I sat to upload this story and I opened the pictures to resize them. And I paused. I was smiling. I was smiling like something has gotten into me. And then I wondered, I have been doing so many things since last weekends just to please myself or whatever. I know they do not usually say that we do everything to make ourselves happy. But more often than not, we do it only for happiness.

The smile on the face of these kids is so infectious that I cannot describe. It was a Be Yourself effort in which the team spent a weekend with these kids in a Labour Area School. The teacher you can see in the pictures loves these kids like her own. She is proud of them actually. She is working hard and we will try to do more to help her in future as well.

This is for real. The time we spend with all these people who have limited means is nothing less than happiness.

Last weekend we met some kids at a Labour Camp area in Gurgaon. It is a small place where labourers stay with their families. A few ladies are already helping them with food. We got them school bags, drawing books and toys. And of course we had some lunch with them. Check out the pictures. And if you want to be a part of our efforts in future, please contact us whenever you feel like.

Special Thanks to Arti Malhotra, Ity Sharma, Taranjot Kaur, Jatin Raliya, Akhilesh Sharma, Ahmad, Prince, Akanksha Darshwal and Jeeveshu Ahluwalia.
